St Michaels on Wyre

A very quick post for today as I'm off to Plymouth for work.

We'd been to Preston to do some shopping and came back via the village of St Michaels, named after this sturdy little medieval church.

We pass by it quite often and I've never taken the time to go to photograph it at night. But now I have!

The tower was built after the tidy sum of 40 shillings (2 pounds!!!) was set aside for that purpose in 1549 - so it dates from then or just after.

Now I just need to go back and stop during a sunny day to take photos of the humpback bridge over the River Wyre which is close by the church!
